Fish Whisper Weekly Fishing Report: September 20, 2024

Welcome, fellow anglers, to our latest fishing report. This week, we're thrilled to announce that the drum have made their grand entrance! Our community member Alejandro Longoria, along with several others, experienced exceptional success at Buckroe, reeling in impressive catches.

Hotspots and Catches

James River Pier

Anglers have been landing a diverse array of species, including croakers, spot, trout, bluefish, flounder, and drum. The pier continues to be a reliable location for those seeking variety in their catches.

Ocean View Pier

This spot has been teeming with activity. Anglers report abundant catches of spot and croakers, with Spanish mackerel and bluefish making frequent appearances. White perch, puffer fish, and drum have also been among the notable catches.

James T Wilson Fishing Pier

The pier has been a hotbed for spot and croakers, with flounder making occasional appearances. The highlight of the week has been the significant number of red drum caught. Roundheads, puffers, and ribbon fish have also been landed, adding to the diversity of catches.

Fort Monroe Piers

Both piers at Fort Monroe have been productive, with anglers reporting catches of bluefish, spot, and sizeable croakers. Drum have been taken from both piers, and Spanish mackerel have been making their presence known. Some lucky anglers even managed to land a few striped bass. The rocks at the end of the Engineer Pier have yielded catches of triggerfish and tautog.

The Green Mile Pier

Flounder, spot, and croakers have been the mainstay at this location. Anglers have also reported catches of oyster toads and drum, providing an interesting mix for those fishing from this pier.

Fishing Etiquette Reminder

As we enjoy this bountiful season, let's remember to practice good fishing etiquette. Respect your fellow anglers, the fish, and our shared environment. By doing so, we ensure that our fishing spots remain productive and enjoyable for everyone.
