Quote from Fish Whishper on September 6, 2024, 5:50 AM09-06-2024 Fishing Report
Welcome to Fish Whisper's weekly fishing report. As we approach the autumn season, we're excited to share the latest updates from our local piers.
Current Fishing Conditions
The recent weather patterns have presented challenges for anglers, with strong winds from the northeast impacting fishing conditions. However, our resilient community has still managed to land some impressive catches, particularly from our local piers.
Pier-by-Pier Report
James River Pier
Anglers at James River Pier have reported catches of croakers, spot, trout, blues, and flounder. The diversity of species here offers opportunities for various fishing techniques and preferences.
Ocean View Pier
Ocean View Pier has been a hotspot for activity. Notable catches include:
- A nice flounder caught by Raymond Winkler
- Abundant spots and croakers
- Spanish mackerel and blues
- White perch
James T Wilson Pier
At James T Wilson Pier, anglers have been successful in catching:
- Spot and croaker
- Flounder
- A few red drum
For those interested in night fishing, the pier lights have been attracting blues and trout, making it an excellent spot for evening angling.
Fort Monroe Piers
Fort Monroe Piers have been productive, with catches including:
- Blues, spot, and croaker
- Numerous sizable roundheads
- A striper and a red drum caught off the end of the Engineer Pier, near the rocks on the left side
Peeler crab and shrimp have proven to be the most effective baits at this location.
The Green Mile Pier
Unfortunately, we were unable to gather information from The Green Mile Pier this week. We look forward to providing updates in future reports.
Conclusion
Despite challenging weather conditions, our local piers continue to offer rewarding fishing experiences. As we transition into fall, we anticipate changes in fish behavior and potentially improved conditions. Remember to practice good fishing etiquette and respect for the environment as you enjoy your time on the water.
