Hello folks, this is TJ with this week's extended fishing report. I am sorry for the late report.
The past week has been bustling with activity despite the smaller catches. We've seen some excellent drum and cobia action, which has kept our spirits high. Below are the key highlights for each pier:
- James River Pier: Spot, croakers, sea bass, perch, flounder, catfish, and active puppy drum. Water temperatures around 79°F.
- James T Wilson Pier: Spanish mackerel, cobias, drum, trout, perch, flounder, blues, and small sea bass. Best times: early mornings and late evenings during high tide.
- Fort Monroe Piers: Spanish mackerel (shiny lures), drum (cut bait), and larger flounder sizes indicating a healthy ecosystem.
- The Green Mile Pier: Spot, croakers, puppy drum, and flounder (artificial lures) especially during swift currents of changing tides.
- Ocean View Pier: Spanish mackerel, cobias, and stories of near-record catches. A prime fishing destination.
As always, we encourage you to join the conversation on our Message Board and share your fishing adventures in our Video Library. Remember, "Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught." Stay tuned for our Weekly Fishing Reports to keep you updated. Tight lines and good times ahead!
